Manila Hostage drama 2010 ended after the Chinese tourists hostages was set free by the help of Manila Police officers.
Four hostages were seen crawling out of the back of the bus signal of the end of the hostage drama in Quirino Grandstand today. There was no confirmation of any other casualties but TV images also showed more bodies being taken out of the bus. Based on the initial report after the rescue operation, the gunman, Rolando Mendoza (former senior police inspector) was killed in the hostage drama.
The police who responded on the drama had shot out the tires on the bus to demobilization it.
The gunman, who took control of the bus in the center of Manila, said he had shot two of his captives and would kill the others if police did not meet his demands.
Mendoza told the Radio Mindanao Network: “I shot two Chinese. I will finish them all if they do not stop.”
Rodolfo Magtibay, Manila Chief Police, said Mendoza would release the victims if he will be given back his job as senior police inspector. Mendoza was formerly reported to be one of the police officers who tortured a criminal that was reported earlier this month.
Mendoza hitched a ride on the bus from the historic walled city of Intramuros and then declared he was taking the passengers hostage when it reached Jose Rizal Park alongside Manila Bay.
The place is now calm and the situation back to normal. People can enjoy the park again.
