Here are the steps to solve it in an easy way without using a calculator or any calculating machine:

Steps:

1.       Choose any 2-digit even number.

Say, find the sum of even numbers from 2 through 56.

2.     Divide the even number by 2 (or multiply it by 1/2)

56 ÷ 2 = 28 or 56 (½) = 28

3.       Multiply the result by the number next to the result in step 2.

The result of step 2 is 28; multiply it by the number next to it which is 29 (28 X 29) to get 812 which is the sum of all even numbers from 2 through 56.

That is 2 + 4 + 6 . . . + 52 + 54 + 56 = 812

These steps can only be used when you are adding all even numbers below 100.
