The most corrupt country is lately trademark of the Philippines. Philippine public officials are among the most corrupt individuals. City and municipal mayors are on the top list of government officials with most number of cases filed in the office of the Ombudsman last year.
As per record, there are about 3, 852 cases were filed against mayors in 2011, 2, 075 of these cases were coming from the anti-graft agency central office. In addition, 633 cases from Luzon Office, 600 from Visayas and 544 from Mindanao. The FMIO report also listed 14 agencies with the least number of cases filed in 2011. The agencies include the Laguna Lake Development Authority, Local Civil Registrar, Philippine National Oil Co., Senate and the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority.
