My domain (ppeso.com) is expiring this month of August so I need to renew it using credit or debit card. I registered this domain with Godaddy through Google Apps. I am using SMART Money Master Card to renew this domain but I have problem.
Google charged me three (3) times today for updating my payment method. Here is my story.
Originally, I have a separate Google CheckoutDomain Name Renewed with Godaddy. Read more ... » account when I first registered this domain. After registration, I was given another email account (Google powered email service for my domain–email@ppeso.com) to be used to manage this domain but my credit/debit card and the original purchased record is stored in the original Checkout account so every time I renew this domain I should use that original Google Checkout account. I did not have any problems in the previous renewal but lately I got a big trouble.
My original Google Checkout account was compromised because of the Google 2-steps verification problem lately so what I did, I created new Google Checkout account using my domain admin email address which is also powered by Google Mail. This caused the big problem.
Google normally send renewal reminder to both email address (the original email (Google Checkout) and the admin email) but since I could not access the original email, I just open the backup email account or the admin email thinking that the problem would be resolved.
I was able to add my SMART Money cardSMART Money Service Stops on Regular SMART Money Card Holders . I was prompted to click on the Agree button so I did it; but once again it did not go through. I was charged worth P42.54 for the second time. Again I tried in the third time and it was confirmed but when I already proceeded to place my order, my card was declined due to insufficient fund. The credit balance in my SMART Money card is not enough to pay the domain registrationDomain Name Renewed with Godaddy. This is definitely unfair because it was not my fault because Google charged me even though the confirmation did not go through during the two attempts. I could not either claim for refund because the transaction is non-refundable (I don’t know if I could claim a refund for this case).
I have to go to BDO branch and recharge my SMART Money within seven (7) days or else, my transaction will be cancelled.
This is another lesson I learned with the 2-steps verification method for Google email account.
