Perfect Diet for Diabetic Person with Sample Menu

According to the American Diabetes Association in 2010, the statistics of diabetic patients in the United States, is about 18.2 million or 6.3% of the whole population and it seem very alarming. Every year, diabetics are increasing and many already died because of this disease.

Many studies are already conducted on how to cure diabetes and there are already many organizations which main objective is to help diabetic patients how to cure their illness but most of the time they failed.

As we always hear that prevention is better than cure. It is really true with diabetes. Diabetes can be cured but it is much better to do some preventive measure so to avoid this disease. On the other hand, there are ways on how to avoid or help ease this problem.

Basically balanced diet is needed and the right or best, though there is no perfect diet, for diabetes must be followed. Patients must take note of their diet every meal. Avoid concentrated sweets (fruits, dessert, etc.), and simple carbohydrates all the time.

Diabetic patients must consult their doctors regarding this matter. They must consult licensed nutritionist-dietitian for specific nutrient needs. You may also plan, experiment and present your diet plan to your nutritionist for approval. Bare in mind you should not eat too much or too little. Avoid too much sugar most especially food that are rich in sugar or containing high sugar such as cake, candies, soft drinks, rich desserts, chocolates, sweetened juice, ice cream, etc.

Eating heavily during breakfast, moderate lunch, and a light dinner is also recommended unless prescribed by your physician.

It is also advisable to eat regularly. Never skip any meal nor eat between meals. Increasing fiber intake by including enough amount of green and leafy vegetable in you daily diet is much recommended as well. Eating legumes and whole grains more than processed meat alternatives to increase fiber.
