Regularized private workers

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported on Wednesday that more than 60,000 private sector workers were regularized since last year.

A total of 63,721 workers are now employed as regular employees in their respective companies according to Undersecretary Joel Maglunsod.

“So far, as of July 19, mayroon nang 63,271 na mga workers ang naregular mula nung isang taon”, he said at the conference of the pre-SONA.

Maglunsod state that Department order (DO) 174 covers all businesses and establishments including fast-food chains, malls, etc. President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered that contractualization like labor-only works and other unlawful contractual arrangements should be totally banned.

But there are exemptions to this order, the janitorial, security services, seasonal services and project-based orders.

Maglunsod said that once DOLE issues compliance order to the employers, the order should immediately be implemented.
